GENERAL INFORMATION Bank, Cash Machines and Post Offices The nearest bank is Natwest located on 386 Barking Road, E13 8HR. Halifax also offer a foreign exchange service. At ExCeL you will find two HSBC Machines at the West End of the boulevard, and Barclays and HSBC ATM’s situated in the boulevard on Level 0, and one at the East end of the Boulevard by N6/S6. All machines accept all bankcards. The Business Service desk located on level 0 of the boulevard can purchase any foreign currency in exchange for GBP, however, they do not sell any foreign currency. There is a post box located at the West taxi drop-off point and at the East end of the venue, in the east taxi rank. Stamps can be purchased from Business Services. The nearest post office is located on Freemasons Road opposite Custom House for ExCeL DLR station. Business Centre There is a Business Centre located on Level 0. Opening hours are 07.30 - 19.00 during the Congress. Certificate of Attendance Participating delegates will receive a Certificate of Attendance in the Congress Bag. Climate and dress code In June, London has an average high temperature of 20˚C and an average low temperature of 13˚C. Rain showers may occur. The dress code will be informal throughout the Congress. Electricity The voltage in the United Kingdom is 230/240V AC, 50Hz. Voltage converters are needed for most devices brought from outside the United Kingdom. Sockets accept only three-(square)-pin plugs, so an adapter is needed for continental European and US appliances. A transformer is also needed for appliances operating on 110-120 volts. First Aid First Aid is found on Level 0 in ExCeL, tel: 0207 069 5556. Internet Café The Internet Cafe is centrally located in the exhibition area. Language The official language of the Congress is English. Local time During the Congress, London will be on British Summer Time (one hour ahead of UTC). Lost and Found Please contact the General Information Desk in the registration area in case of personal belongings being lost or found. Meals There are several cafeterias and cash bars within the congress venue and in the exhibition area. Mobile Phone Policy Please respect the Congress policy and switch off mobile phones in all meeting rooms and in the exhibition and poster areas. Also, please respect that it is not allowed to take any pictures during session in the meeting rooms. Name Badges Your personal badge is your entrance ticket to all sessions, to the exhibition area and to social events. Please remember to always wear your badge in the ExCeL. If you have lost your badge a new one can be purchased, against proof of your original registration, from the Congress Secretariat at a cost of EUR 60. All onsite parking is pay and display, with the exception of the multi-story car park, which is located at the West end of the site. Parking in the multi storey car park can be paid for, at the end of the visit, at one of the three pay points. Photographing Kindly respect that photographing in the session rooms is strictly forbidden. An official photographer is hired for the entire event. Safety Please be aware of thieves and pick-pockets in the area surrounding the ExCeL Do not carry your badge outside the ExCeL, and do not give it to anybody even if you are leaving the Congress. Smoking Policy In accordance with the policy of the EAACI, this is a non-smoking event. Social Events Desk Information on the social events of the Congress is available at the Social Events Desk in the registration area. Here you can also purchase tickets for social events. If you have already booked social events, the admission is registered in the bar code on your name badge, which has to be worn at all times during the Congress. Transportation Getting from the Airports to central London The fastest way to get to London City from Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted airports is to take an Express train to one of the train stations connecting to the Underground System and Bus Network. The cost of the train ticket is 14-16 GBP. From London City airport the best way is to take the DLR which easily connects to the Underground. Luton airport is served by several bus companies, the cheapest being Easybus. Taxi rides through the city centre may take long time due to traffic congestion. Getting to the Congress Centre (ExCeL) The nearest Underground station to ExCeL is Custom House Station. From Victoria Station to ExCeL Take Circle line or District line heading east, change at Westminster to Jubilee line heading east. Change at Canning Town to Docklands Light Railway (DLR) heading east and get off at Custom House Station for Excel. From Paddington Station to ExCeL Take Bakerloo line heading east, change at Baker Street heading south on Jubilee line. Change at Canning Town to Docklands Light Railway (DLR) heading east and get off at Custom House Station for Excel. From Liverpool Street Station to ExCeL Take Central line heading west, change at Bank Station to Docklands Light Railway (DLR) heading east direction Beckton. Visa application Delegates requiring an official letter of invitation in order to obtain a visa and authorisation to attend the Congress should direct a request to the Congress Secretariat in Stockholm at eaaci-visa@congrex.com before 3 May 2010. Please be informed that a letter of invitation will only be issued to registered delegates and when Congrex Sweden AB has received full payment. Please allow 6-8 weeks for the English Embassy to issue a visa.
